How are you feeling today?
Thank you for stopping by Mango Frooty - the home of enlightenment, life enhancement and true love. Not really but I do make things aimed to put a smile on your face.
About Gabby Malpas:
Originally from New Zealand, I have been an exhibiting artist since 1987, working from NZ, the UK and Australia where these days I call Sydney home. Originally trained in ceramics, I now work in paper, fabric and beads though I like to think my love of colour and shape is evident in current work.
Like most artists I have a day job, my studio is the kitchen table but I still dream.
What's in a name?
Some years ago in India I became very fond of a local drink called 'Mango Frooti'. The drink was sold on every street corner in brightly coloured boxes, sporting a colourful, slightly kooky logo. The brand was exhuberent, cheeky and didn't look like it took itself too seriously.
The Mango Frooty label incorporates my take on the Indian paisley motif which is an image of a Mango. There is a little nod to Kiwiness in the 'Koru' pattern at the bottom of the motif.
The Mango Frooty website is an evolving site. New items are posted on a regular basis so please come back and see me.
